Local SEO in Granada: getting on the map, not on page nine

For a neighbourhood business, the spot that brings customers isn't the first blue link: it's the box of three listings with the map that sits above everything else. Getting in there runs on different signals from classic SEO, and some of them cost nothing but someone doing them.

The three signals Google cross-checks

Google decides that your website, your business listing and the directories all refer to the same company by comparing three pieces of data: name, address and phone. If the site says «Calle Chueca 3» and the listing says «C/ Chueca, 3º», that stops adding up and starts subtracting.

It's an afternoon's work and almost nobody does it. The first thing we check is that those three details read exactly the same everywhere you appear, including the directories somebody filled in six years ago.

Verification, where everyone gets stuck

An unverified listing is invisible: Google stores it but doesn't show it. And since 2024 the method offered to most Spanish businesses is recording one continuous video, no cuts, showing the premises outside and in, the equipment, and proof that you're the one running it.

If you work without a public-facing shop — a service area rather than a storefront — that gets awkward, and it's where a lot of listings stall half-finished. We know what has to appear in that video for it to pass first time, because a retry is several more days of being invisible.

Reviews, which are what break the tie

Between two similar businesses, the one with more recent reviews ranks higher. There's no trick to it: you have to ask, and you have to make it easy at the moment the customer is happy, which is right after paying.

A counter-top card with a QR that opens your listing in one tap converts far better than an email two days later. What we don't do is write reviews or buy them: besides being against Google's rules, it's what gets the whole listing pulled.

Questions we get

How long until it shows?
The listing, within days: once it's verified it starts appearing. Ranking the website itself is a different matter and runs in months. Anyone giving you a date for «first place» is selling something they don't control, because Google decides and doesn't publish the criteria.
Do you guarantee first place?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. What can be guaranteed is doing what's within our control and showing you the before-and-after measurement, in writing.
My listing exists but doesn't appear. Why?
It's almost always one of three: it isn't verified, the chosen category isn't the one people search, or a duplicate listing is competing with itself. All three can be checked quickly and we tell you which it is before charging you anything.
Do I need premises to have a listing?
No. You can register as a service-area business with no visitable address. It changes the verification process and it changes what Google displays, but the listing exists all the same.
